We bought a mix of chicks 4 days ago and have currently lost 2 chicks with another being quick sick. My 13yo is currently nursing the sick chick with warmth and drops of water. We are unsure as to what is making our chicks unwell and how to help the sick one. Any advice would be appreciated please.

The only advice I can give is: separate any that look like they are or may be getting sick. Sometimes they seem to die for no reason. The other day I had a 3 to die. I found that in an adjoining shed I had some deck wash that was leaking from a small hole. The deck wash has bleach in it so I suspect the fumes leaked in with the chicks. Just a guess though. You may look for something like that. As far as helping the sick ones? Something like putting Gatorade into the water for electrolytes may help. Sorry I couldn't help more.

The common things to check for are pasty butt and symptoms of coccidiosis. What are the symptoms? Chicks are really fragile creatures and, like Wantaraisechick said, they often die for no reason.
