I have a young rooster that was laying in the nesting box for probably 4-5 days. I listed him for sale because I thought he had a bad habit. I tried getting him out and he coo-ed at me and I realized he can't walk. When he lays down, he has to use his wings to keep up straight and not fall over. He is eating and drinking but he has green, liquid poop. How can I tell what's wrong with him? My parents aren't wanting to take him to a vet and the vet doesn't talk on the phone unless you are paying for an appt

I would take him inside or somewhere warm and put him a dog kennel with food and water in it.You can add poultry vitamins to his water or offer him high protein treats like tuna or eggs.Try to keep him calm.I would really try taking him to the vet if thats not going to happen i would ask the vet for a fecal flotation which usually costs around 20-40$.Many diseases can cause lameness in the legs such as Mareks,Vitamin Deficiency or leg problems. Can you feel his legs?Move your hand up and down the legs and feel for abnormal inflammation/Hotness.Do you see a hard core at the bottom of the foot?Have you had any previous diseases in your flock? What do you feed them?

I have never had any diseases, except I bought silkie chicks and about a month or two later (after I already added my silkies with the rest of my flock) the person I got them from said that they were hatched from hens with mereks and she doesn't know if they have it so all my chickens have been exposed if they did have it :( I Checked his legs and didn't feel anything unusual and his feet are fine but I'll check again and post if he has anything abnormal with his legs
