Sick duck need advice liver toxicity

Pls keep Pio in your prayers she is on her way to the vet for the last evaluation she will either start tube feeding today or if he decides there is nothing more to do and she won't recover she will be put to sleep. She is very weak and not untested in food. The force feeding is not enough she needs more amount of food. The nutri drench did nothing for her. I am at the end of this story. God willing He will have mercy on her and is as I have not slept for three weeks seeing her deteriorate. A farmer friend said they don't recover from fatty liver. Others say they do. I just don't want her to suffer. The aloe detox has only been given to her since Monday night don't know if it's enough time to see any recovery I just think it's time to let go but only if there is no other option and if she is suffering.

I feel that ducks let us know when they have had enough. If they are willing to keep fighting, I help them. But they have always let me know.

I can't leave her alone that would not be right She lives with us and see us as her mommy and daddy but still she needs her own kind. This next one I will definitely keep out of high fat foods. They will be only on what Ducks eat. No people food. I loved Pio God rest her soul. I will start calling places that might have duckling. Muscovy ducklings are difficult to find. That would be my first choice as pollito is a Muscovy but Perkins will be ok or any really. Do all duck breeds get along?

Oh, no.

It is up to the individual ducks how they get along. There are things we can do to help and encourage it.

I don't know where you are, but there are places that rescue abandoned ducks. Some specialize in Muscovies. Even vets and ASPCA shelters sometimes come across surrenders or rescues.

I am very sorry but it sounds like that was all you could do for her. I am sure she knew your love all the way to the end.

I am in florida. Duck haven in margate florida is a Muscovy sanctuary for injured and abandon muscovies. I just reached out to Eunice to see about adopting a duckling or two or a jr. Adult is too much for pollito. Pollito is and always has been a hyper duckie and needs a calmer counterpart or some one she can raise up. Someone that can follow her ways. I will try first a rescue if not o will go to the feed store to get the perkin babes. So sad over Pio lost. I dreaded this and did all I could to save her. I think she gave up the fight two days ago. The condition was overpowering. I am not feeding this one any table scraps only greens fruits good nuts and their own food. Period. I made a mistake with Pio. Pio was more laid back never super active like pollito who is super hyper a pure rocket. It affected Pio never pollito but everyone will now be on a healthy diet.

I have a Muscovy drake with two Pekin girlfriends. He has plenty of Muscovy girl choices but prefers the Pekins. He's not normal though. He doesn't like water either, lol. Good luck finding Pollito a pal

You folks are so special. Thank you for your kinds words. 2015 was my first year as a dick mom. I made a lot of progress but some mistakes too. I think the two that perish did so due to high fats in the foods that I let them consume. I just didn't know but now I do. Pollito and the new one will only eat what they should so no more fatty liver. I feel like a terrible duck mom and I did and still do love tweety and Pio. Tweety passed away in march of 2016 from something I am guessing must have been the same. Pollito is very very active so what she is consuming she burns very fast. Now she too is on greens fresh fruits and her flock feed. No more fats that we eat. When we were having dinner or lunch me and my family would give them table scrapes. Big mistake. All my pets are now sticking to what is appropriate for them only. My heart is crushed. Miss her so much. God willing I find Pollito the perfect pal. My bday is Saturday and this is what I ask God.
