I have a Cayuga duck that is 5 or older and I found her this morning with her eyes all nasty, she sounds stuffy, and she can't walk. She swam when I brought her in and gave her a warm bath. I also gave her some water with apple cider vinegar in it. Idk whats wrong with her at all or how to tell if it's it sinuses or respiratory. Please help me if you can.

Started her on Augmentin last night. She still looks awful but she is scooting around a little more. She drinking like she has never seen water in her life. Someone said something about Tylan 50 so I may get some of it today.

Tylan 50 is also something you could try, but you need to give the correct dose, which is *much* higher than people on forums think it is.

The chicken dose is 50 mg per pound per day and the turkey dose is 60 mg per pound per day. Best if given 2-4 times a day (cannot be given once a day).

Tylan will *not* treat E. coli or other gram negative bacteria, it is best in treating mycoplasma and gram positive bacteria.

Poor thing. Hope she makes a swift recovery. Do cayugas turn white as they age or is this a mix?

Another really good drug that you could try is Baytril (enrofloxacin). It is banned for use in all poultry in most countries, but it's really good at knocking out these respiratory infections. If the Augmentin doesn't work I think it's something you could consider.

Do I have to get it from a vet, or where do I get it? I really appreciate your help! I didn't even know I posted this on here.
Your Augmentin is a very good drug to start with, but if it doesn't work I would try the Baytril. On iPad now, and posting links is painful, so will post Baytril sources when I can get on a computer.
