Well I have been giving her the Safe Guard in the right dosage for 3 days with zero improvement. She is passing small green poops. I have rubbed her throat and crop and it does seem swollen a little on the left side. She drinks some water and I have cooked her some macaroni that she will eat a handful of but not much. I will make her a appointment for the vet tomorrow as I have run out of things to do. The vet does avian but mostly exotics not farm animals. Will update after.

Have her Safeguard for 7 days at 2ml since the lower dose wasn't working. Must not be gapeworm as no appreciable change. The vet wanted $135 just to examine her not including treatment. I have come to believe that she has something stuck in her crop. She is still just eating macaroni with corn oil and coughs and hiccups. She did try to flock yesterday rather than staying on her own. The other ducks don't act like she is sick. They don't peck or torture her like they do with a sick member of the flock. I will update in a few days.

Well she got much better and rejoined the flock. She was not yet laying again but I was positive for a full recovery. Then she was eaten this afternoon. Pee water. Last duck from the first flock and it had been months since anyone was eaten. Happened during the two minutes of the Preakness.

Thanks. I will miss her. I seem to keep the bobcat population fed. I got geese to help but Fred is not old enough yet. Not
mean enough.

Fred will never be able to protect another bird or himself from a bob cat they are powerful and have claws and teeth. Best thing is an LSGD for their protection.

LSGD? Some kind of gun? I went after one bare handed. Saved the duck but a stupid move.

I have a red heeler but she was in the house. She protects them when she's out. But it's too hot here to leave her out all the time. She has treed the bobcat before.
