I have 2 ducklings. I'm a first timer duck owner. Had them almost a month. Seems to have a hard time breathing. Like heavy breathing. Also likes to be in the corner by himself like he's in trouble...most of the day. Nasal passages seem clear and are able to clear them. The quacking sounds like larangitis (sp?) while the other is loud and clear. Not as active in the pen as the other either but eats , drinks, and poos normal. What could be wrong with my poor duckling? Any ideas?

Sounds like a respiratory infection, and the best thing would be a good duck vet - I would say the little one needs oral or injectable antibiotics, - a vet can be a big help. Some vets are just good with animals, even if they are not duck specialists.

(I just found this post)

How is the little one? Sometimes some apple cider vinegar in the water helps - a teaspoon per quart. A tiny bit of oregano may also help some, but I would want to get some professional help and if that's not possible, start on some antibiotics. I am not an antibiotic expert, so I cannot strongly recommend any particular kind.

It also occurs to me that some respiratory problems are mold related. And that ducklings vary in their responses to irritants - some don't have as much trouble as others - so I would double check the bedding and food (sniff test) . If something is moldy it catches in the back of my throat.
