Sick duckling

We have 4 sex links that are the same age. The big one is literally twice the size of his sibling.

Pecking, that's what we were thinking at first but my wife was really starting to worry. She didn't want the rest if the flock getting something if she had it. I will get some vitamins for them and separate her from the rest when they are inside. Does that sound like a good idea?

Thank you all for great ideas.
I wouldn't separate her from the other duckling, they would be too lonely. Chicks are really bad for pecking especially at ducklings well even at each other too.
I also want to apologize for making this sound like it could be a crested problem, alot of ducklings can have nutritional needs more so than the other ducklings in the same brooder with them, Know idea why this happens one will have leg issues which usually is a Dif in niacin and sometimes they can also have neurological issue which can be from niacin dif or from being crested. But I really think we have figured out what is going on here. Once a member posted they put their ducklings in with some of their chickens and the chickens who I believe were young too pecked them so badly that some of them died. Please keep us updated on how they are. and forgot to say

I'm glad you posted the crested info. A lot of people like myself have no idea about them and their special needs. I was so glad to read what you shared with me about them;-)

Thank's jennimig, I think it's important the people who have crested know that there could be problems arise from having these ducks. and alot of folks don't know that they shouldn't breed 2 crested together either. I just felt I may have gave cavedog the wrong impression about his lil ducklings, and that's why I asked you to look at this thread because it very well could have been something to do with being crested we just don't want to over look anything , but thankfully I hope it has been figured out. It's so awesome to have members who we can call on to help and look at situations from another angle.

I really appreciate that you posted that info! I had no idea. No need to apologize.

We just started feeding the ducks brewers yeast. Will get the vitamins soon.

Here are a few pictures of the ducks together. We have separated them from the hens. I will keep everyone updated.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I really appreciate it.

Aw, they look so cute. Hopefully separating them from the chickens will help a lot.
If their skin looks irritated, you could apply a small amount of coconut oil to sooth, moisturize and protect. Since they're missing a lot of their feathers and down, make sure to have heat available for them so they can stay warm.

Looks like a real nice place you have for them, and we forgot to mention the stress the chickens may have put on the ducklings especially the one. So hopefully from here on out you'll see improvements left and right. I have EE with beards a couple weeks ago I noticed some of my EE's that don't have beards plucking the beards out of their sisters. crazy things. No idea what that was about.

Hey also try giving your duck extra electrolytes also look and see if other ducks are picking on it because some ducks are born aggressive and I be had one that eventually killed a duckling

Thanks, that is actually the dogs area. The coop will be in the backyard. I now have the chickens in the backyard and the ducks in this little dog run but the chickens and the ducks sit at the gate. No improvement yet. Just got two more black runners. Will see if these two fair better but OH MY GOSH. These little guys can jump 8-10" high. I found them running around my garage the other day trying to figure out how they got out. They are the cutest thing.

Thanks for all the advice, got some vitamins. Seeing if that helps too

And just one last thing, it looks like they would enjoy a warm bath (no soap). Do they have access to clean water, at least enough to dip their heads into. And since they are missing feathers, you'd need to help them dry off with a towel.

P.S. Probably not constant access to water, but controlled. Give them some shallow water to bathe in when you can supervise them. I assume there is a greater risk of drowning when they don't have their feathers... also greater risk of getting chilled if they don't have extra help from you to dry off and stay warm.
