I am sorry for your experience and thank you for the reminder. You have helped me.

Very good post to share here! Some of us just don't think that the cute little babies could possibly be sick. So sorry to hear you lost some of your flock

That's sad but it happens and now you know. Good luck with the ones that are still living. I hope they all make it!

Oh Stacey, I am so very sorry.

I am looking out the window at all my pretty girls, and I just can't imagine what you are going through. Please keep us updated on how your babies are doing. I hope and pray that they will make it.

Thank you for posting about this. Maybe it will help someone else, so that it doesn't happen to them.

Thank you all for your sympathy. This truly has been terrible and very disheartening. An experience that I never want repeated for sure.

I've just cleaned waterers and feeders with clorox and given everyone their anitbiotics. I've also given the older chicks their morning bowl of warm oatmeal. There is still some sneezing but it doesn't seem as bad today. I can't quite tell with the new chicks if they are getting better or weaker. Part of me wants to think they are getting better then the other part of me is scared to think that. I'm pretty certain that I'm not clear of losses yet, so I'm trying to keep my brain geared up for what's possibly to come. I also placed an order for some Oxine yesterday so I can spray everything down really well and get it disinfected before my eggs that are in the bator hatch in two weeks.

I will try to update daily as to how things are going. Thanks again everyone.

Stacey, just keep a positive attitude. I think all will be fine with time. I sure wish I could come by and help but I know its best for my flock that I stay away. We are still praying that all will be fine. Keep your chin up and call me if you need to.

By all means please stay away Angela. I'd run you off if you even tried to visit! My place is off limits to everyone, period. No visitors allowed.

Aww Gumpsgirl, I'm so sorry to read all of this. Thanks for letting us all know and reminding us to quarentine. My fingers are crossed and I'm hoping for the best for you. :aww

I have done a lot of research trying figure out what my flock has and I am 95% sure that they have Infectious Bronchitis. All of their symptoms fit the descriptions that I've read about. Good news is that the mortality rate usually stays at about 5% and they won't remain carriers for life, just a few months. You can also vaccinate against this illness, which is good to know. The IB lasts for 7-14 days. It is VERY contagious and easily spreads with and incubation period of 18-48 hours. The incubation period even fits! Everyone might want to look into this vaccination. It can be sprayed on them, given orally, or given as eyedrops. I will definitely be vaccinating my flock for now on. Just FYI!
