I really need some help please !!!! We have a 4 month old Pekin duck, who has been laying eggs for just under a month. She is the runt of the three Pekins that we have, and is very special to us. When we fed the chickens and ducks this morning she was acting normal, when I went and checked for eggs earlier this afternoon she seemed to be ok also. this evening though all heck broke loose. I walked into the coop and Small Fry was laying on her belly with her legs back out behind her and she can't even stand up !!!! She is also running a fever and having a very hard time breathing. Help please, I have no idea how to help my sweet little girl !!!!

You are going to have to check for the egg you can use a glove or not don't push hard the egg will brake be gentle you get the picture if their is an egg...

Give her a warm Epsom salt bath and they blow dry her and put her in a dog crate full of shavings make it dark and warmish in there for her so she feels safe and hope it passes.

Ok tysvm we found out that she is not eggbound !!!! It turns out that she has bumblefoot instead !!!!

@yoshiboyz70 can you get a pic of her bumble? how bad is it?

You can soak her feet in Epsom salt water half cup per half gal of warm water [don't let her drink it is also a laxative] After soaking dry and spread clear iodine all over the bumble do this for several days or until you can gently pull off the scab with your finger nail. Once the scab is off you should be able to get the pus plug out with sterile tweezers[ poultry pus is think and yellowish] After getting plug out wash her feet/foot again in ES water then either pack with Neosporin or triple antibiotic and wrap or just keep using the ES and iodine till healed if you don't wrap try and keep her on as clean an area as possible till hole is closed.

Small Fry's bumblefoot is almost completely healed thanks to soaking her feet in Epsom salts and using Prid ointment !!!! We are now getting ready to start treating her sister's feet for the same thing but the are not any where close to being as bad as Small Fry's were.
