Hello community
My 2 year old gander has not been feeling good at all. 2 days ago I noticed Gwen was not feeling well. My only Bird vet out of the area and will not be returning for a few more days. Cast even contact by phone. The other vet that helps Bird is also gone for 2 more days. I noticed him being sleepy with his neck crocked back like he about to sleep and he was not behaving normal at all. No interest in any of his routines playing in the pool taking a bast h and ofcourse eating grass. The next day paying closer attention I noticed him poop whitish bubbles and egg white colored poo. I knew that definitely didn't look normal. He wasn't eating at all, all day long. I offered him his favorite water melon he stood in front of it and just looked at it. I got a hold of the dog cat horse vet thinking at that point perhaps he had an issue with his crop as it looked fuller above then below which usually is full but looked empty. I finally talked the vet into seeing him which was not easy at all. He stuck a small hose down his throat a gave him some water and said it went down and sent me out the door as it was already past closing. He had finally had a poop which looked more like egg white and a white color. I have seen him drink water and that is it. I thought maybe a compacted crop so I massaged and gave him water then tried to put him upside down see if something would come up but nothing. So I then came across the flushes so last night I offered him Epsom salt flush with pedilight and he finally had a little color of green in his poop which made me hopeful. This morning I seen he had pooped more green color in his few poops through the night. This am I went to see How he is which seemed a little better but he has bubbles in the corner of one eye socket. This is my first time as a goose owner and I love him as much as I love to breath and feel so helpless for him right and in desperate need of people who may be able to help me so I don't lose him. I want to help but so hard to find anything on geese. Thank you much in advance for any help no matter how small.

Thank you for your response. He has gone over to the nesting area and has been laying down and every now an then does his sad sigh. Heart breaking to not know what to do for him. I read someone using goldenseal root oil drop mixed in saline and dropped in eye following chamomile oil drop in saline after in eye for infection? But I certainly do not want to do anything that would harm him. No vet to speak to for two more days is so hard. I just rather help then do nothing as crying will not fix anything.

My gander was acting slow and wasnt eat or drinking so I did a charcoal flush as epsum salt didnt help as i thought it was botulisum you can buy charcoal pills at walmart i use however many is in a tsp which for me is 5 plus a cup of water heres a vid i took of how to do it i use a syring with a tube put it in the mouth and make sure you feel it behind the trachea i give 30cc i think every few hours three times a day

Does your gander have any exposure to sources of lead? My gander got into some old paint scrapings off our house and it made him very sick-he would just hide in the garage-not eating. He also had the bubbles/foam in his eyes due to not washing his eyes out often enough-he wasn't feeling good. Your avian vet can do a blood test to check for lead/zinc levels. Once we figured out the problem, we fenced off the area near the house and our gander is happy and healthy again. Please keep us posted after you take your gander to the vet.

I am so hoping to be able to take him to the vet. That is minimum 3 days away. Today when I let him out, when he would walk he would almost stop cock his head back then step as if he really had to think about it. The weather is so hot I put him back in the barn with a cool fan did a charcoal flush then some electrolyte and vitamins. I haven't seen anymore bubbles in his eye. I gave him a little spraying with the hose when he was out. Now he is on his perch not touching any watermelon or pellets. He just keeps sighing as he still not well. I will do everything I can to try and have him strong enough to make to wensday. The down side of living in the country.

I think he might of eaten some of my cherry tomatoe plant I had no clue they could harm him. My other female goose isn't having any of these symptoms.
