It is a shame that feed stores do not really know how to feed geese properly. They keep telling people to feed chicken feed. Geese have different needs than chickens. If you mix your own feed you can use oats, wheat, barley and if possible find a Tractor Supply Store and get their all flock. Then mix in the oats, wheat and barley along with animal brewer's yeast. This will be a much more stable diet than cracked corn. I would only use a tiny bit of corn because it is just not nutritious at all for the geese. That is more of a treat not a food source.

Yay! So glad to hear he's back on his feet. I agree it would be good to keep him separate for a few more days until he regains his strength and stability.

I used the recipe from the Cottage Rose website for my geese this past breeding season. I had a very successful breeding season, and at the end of the season they were in better condition than usual and regained their fancy feathers very quickly.

So glad to hear he is back on his feet. Now keep up the good work and get them geese on a better diet and you will not have any problems with them. When they lack something they sure show it or if they get sick they also show it. So keep a good eye out on them just so they stay in good shape for you.

Hmmm i think this trend would have been good for my gander but i already got my info but ive so many questions to ask since im new since 5 days ago but one of my friends breeds embdem and has 2 pairs of chinese and a pair of toulouse and he said that this year he had over 40 goslings and they were full breed and crossed breeds and then out of a sudden his goslings got sick 34 of them then eventually got sick and they were from new borns to month olds and all the sick ones died within a week and i saw them and he ask my sister and she had no clue since she only knows it with geese over 4 months!
The signs of this sickness was alot of weight loss and slow in following the parents and siblings and eventually didnt walk anymore and notting could save them they were extrmly light and thin when you lifted them and it felt like they didnt weigh anything and they would look ok at one look and within a hour they would get a stroke and die.And eventually he would have only 7-8 goslings left.
This happened to him 3 times in a row since 3 years ago and only a few goslings surive to adulthood !

Does anyone know what this strange sickness is before he starts breeding again ?!?!?

Ruru, your advice was great about this dietary need. Combined with this, I keep my tiny ones contained on grass, even though mum is restless and wants to go to the pond.( That way they don´t get marched all over the place) I´m convinced this is helping. The goslings are on good grass and chick-crumb for breakfast and supper, mixed with a little Brewers Yeast and lettuce every day, and are chunky and strong. Nice one.

Livininbrazil thats why he asked me coz he was wondering what was different from my goslings to his.And RURU thats diffently not the problem because he owns a poultry feed,coal,garden centre hardware store :-D
So its not that and hes annoyed why his babys have this disease and keeps going to me :-C But tell me.

You and lydia are experts in feeding and vits etc. Tell me this what is in vit B that goslings really need
