He looks good momo18. Looks like my two i raised last year. Are they toulouse? Mine are production toulouse, so no dewlap on mine.

Wlhtx, they are adorable. They are as dark as mine, must have been the lighting. Africans look like brown chinese only bigger. From what ive read they came from crossing toulouse and brown chinese.

I'm already shocked at how big they're getting! At 4 weeks old they are as big as our full grown khaki campbell duck! A couple are just starting to honk rather than whistle. :) I love it!!!!

I have 3 goslings. 1 is a month old and the other 2 are 3 weeks old. I put them outside for good 3 days ago. Until then they had only seen ducklings. The oldest started hissing when it saw a chicken walk under the brooder lol the two i raised last year didnt hiss until they were 3 mos old. It kind of scared me at first i thought there was a snake near me lol

We let ours out all during the day, but still herd them all up in the evenings to sleep in the brooder in our shop. In February of this year we had bought 3 other goslings and we put them out at about 3 weeks old. They made it all of a couple days before something got all of them in one night. (I suspect owl or hawk...) I was absolutely heartbroken! So when we got the new 6 babies, I swore that I would wait until they were much bigger before leaving them out at night. It's about to drive me crazy though. Dang they're a messy bunch!!! I have considered relocating them down to the goat pen...

I've had no hissing yet. I'm hoping mine are fairly used to chaos by now. Their brooder is on the ground where the dogs and cats can look them over. (Trying to train the big dog that these are MINE and not his for chasing and/or eating.) The chick brooder is next to them as well, so hopefully they will all be buddies in the future!

Yup, Toulouse! I`m guessing production since they wont have a dewlap(is that the main difference?)

I know how you feel. When I first started out with ducks, I lost a ton of them! I finally had to get a large dog pen with chicken wire on top and around the sides to keep them alive. I never would have thought you would have to put the wire around the sides, but the raccoons reached right through the wire and killed some of them before I put it up. Thankfully it is well protected now and all of my ducks and my adult goose come in every night before dark. And yes, they are quite the mess makers!

I don't think the multi quote worked out quite right...Ive never used it before. I pushed multi on both of the posts and when they didn't show up in the reply section I went to full page editor...they showed up there, but it still doesn't look like everyone else's. What did I do wrong?

Production toulouse are what hatcheries sell, unless you go to a hatchery like holderreads. I didnt get mine from a hatchery.
Productions are for meat purposes and in
some peoples opinions thats it. I think they make great pets and they are great geese all around. There are others that agree. Dewlap
toulouse seem to be alot bigger and from what i understand are more popular with the exhibition breeders as show geese. They also seem to have "fat rolls" where the productions
are more "toned" in body shape. Thats just my opinion on looks. I have never seen a dewlap toulouse in person. Id love to have a couple
but im pushing it now with having 4 different breeds, 13 altogether and more on the way. Plus ive never heard of anyone where i live raising them. Maybe later on ill order some. My next breeds i want first are Pomeranians, Sebbies or American Buffs. Hubby says no more geese or goslings lol but we will see about that, i snuck the ones i have in so i can sneak in more if i have to lol

I'm sure you could sneak in some Dewlap goslings and just tell a gullible husband that they're regular Toulouse. When they mature then blame their increased size on being greedy birds
