I have a 1.5 yr old bantam ameraucana who is standing about with her wings slightly down, and when she walks it is stiffly with a bit of a penguin waddle.

Her vent is healthy looking. In all other ways, she looks healthy, although I think she has lost weight since yesterday. I have felt her abdomen and did not feel any swelling, no lumps, and I did not feel anything like an egg in there - I don't think she has an egg stuck in her vent.

I did notice a spot of wetness in the nestbox a couple of times - as though some hen tried to lay something with no shell. There is not even any yolk color or rubbery membrane, just a spot of dampness.

I'm thinking she must have something going wrong with her egg-laying apparatus, but I'm not sure what? From what I have been trying to research online, it doesn't seem that much can be done if this is the case, I'm not even sure antibiotics would work. I am considering culling her because I don't want her to suffer, but she is one of my favorites (even though she is a genetic mishmosh, breeding wise).

Anyone have any advice or ideas?

I am sorry to hear about your hen. I am new so I have no advice, I just hope you don't have to cull her. Good luck, I hope she gets better!!
