Sick hen, standing motionless...help

She will be 2 in March. No its not coccidiosis. I treated her with Corid for a week with no results. The symptom of colibaciliosis is when they poop lots and lots of water with a small bit of poop in the middle. this is exactly what is happening with my girl

Okay, not coccidiosis then.

Has she been laying recently? If not, how long has it been since she has laid an egg? Any abdominal swelling?

I can't read thiS thread fully for some reason. I've had a hen who we thought was dying. She was sleepy a lot of the time and motionless. Dull comb with a blue tinge to it. She's been like that a few days but was very smelly today. We treated her for sour crop, and low and behold she vomited up a huge amount of green smelly fluid. Now isolated and hopefully will perk up. If not we will try the same procedure again to ensure all food is removed in a couple of days. There was no signs of sour croup until today with the smell. I would maybe treat for this? Procedure of helping them vomit is dangerous if any vomit gets into lungs so you must be very careful or she could get pneumonia. Hope this helps!

She molted two months ago and hasn't laid an egg since. .my other sex link molted at the same time and is as healthy as a horse and she hasn't laid since either. I did let my sick girl Free range with the rest of the flock this afternoon. she walked around slowly and pecked here and there. when I put the rest of the girls away I gave my sick girl some layer pellets she ate them all. thats the first time in a week. yesterday her crop was soft and spongy. this afternoon it was firm and about the size of a tennis ball. so may she is on the road to recovery

I see a post that you had with a simular issue im having,one of my red sexlink is standing in the corner of the coop not eating or drinking she opens and closes her beek was wondering if you had any suggestions?

I came across this thread after starting one about similar issues one of my BR hens was having- we noticed last Friday that she was sneezing and then later was holding her head up, opening and closing her beak as if she was having some distress breathing. We removed her from the flock and it sounded like her brathing was full of fluid. We began treating her last Sat with antibiotics and today is Friday- she is eating very well and her poop looks very normal. I have heard her sneeze a couple of times but her breathing sounds fine now- we will continue treating for a full 10 days then keep her in isolation for another 5 before reintroducing her to the flock.

We picked up 3 Crested Polish from a friend that wanted to reduce their flock and one is acting very similar to the BR- went ahead and pulled her out of their coop to treat as well- odd as the crested are in a coop about 200 yds away and do not share anything in common- water, feed bedding comes from different sources..
