Hey All,

I've had a sick hen for about a week now. She's a 10 month old barred rock. When I first noticed that she wasn't acting right, she had a long poop hanging from her butt. When I was inspecting her the poop came out and it looked like it had a bunch of long (7-8 inches) strands of hay in it.

I fed her some bread soaked in olive oil and have made sure she's been drinking, but she's lethargic and mostly stays in a sort of huddled up position.

Today, she made a really nasty poop that smelled horrendous. That's where the pics come in, you can see that there's a solid black looking log there with some long strands of hay that appear white. I should note that there was also quite a bit of liquid.

Anyone have any thoughts?

The hay in the poo sounds suspicious... I'd read up on impacted crop... From the hay being present and the lethargicness, that could be the culprit.

are you sure its hay and not worms?
has she been wormed lately?

It's almost definitely hay in the poop. I'm thinking her crop is impacted...
