I am new to chickens and have a question about my 1 yr old White Leghorn hen. She has no feathers on her backside and belly. Also has a discharge from vent...but don't notice a smell. Seems fine otherwise.

Hi :welcome

Is it poop that's coming from her vent? Have you checked for a stuck/broken egg? The baldness could be a lice/mite problem or from other birds feather pecking her. Here are a couple of articles that could help you with the vent problem. One on vent gleet and one on egg binding.

Good luck, I hope she is well again soon :fl

Besides what the good advice and questions from Yorkshire Coop, is it possible your hen is broody? When hens go broody they sometimes pluck their feathers from their stomachs and breasts. And if they aren't eating or drinking much because of being broody, their droppings might be more runny.

It's kind of hard to tell, but to me it looks like she is regrowing feathers and her butt is just messy. That looks exactly like my Buff Orpington hen who is molting currently and has a messy bum.

But, then again the more I look at it, it looks like her vent is enlarged almost... I would post here if I were you.
