My one year old Wyandotte just lays on the ground, head up and let's me pick her up. Normal is to run away. She is not egg bound...what to do? My first experience with raising chickens.

Can you post photos or a video?
What other symptoms does she have, lethargic, puffed up, full crop, not eating/drinking, can she walk, does she have any sneezing, coughing, wheezing, nasal/eye discharge, how is she laying down-feet/legs under her or splayed out, etc.?

I can post pic later today. She has moved under a cedar tree legs under like normal, head upright but tucked in. I will put her in her own pen and see if she eats/drinks.

Headed to town, any miracle drug to buy at farm store?

Not a miracle drug (I wish there was such a thing), but I would suggest giving Tylan 50 a shot (no pun intended). If you get some, pick up some small syringes and some 22 gauge needles... Oh, and if you don't keep Wazine on hand, maybe pick up a bottle.

She has developed little black spots on comb and wattles. She walks on her hind legs instead of upright on her feet. Head up and alert, just not moving.

All I could find locally was sav a chick electrolytes which she drinks very well and is now eating also, liquid b-12...2cc by mouth. I have an antibiotic terra vet 10 soluble but haven't administered it yet....thoughts?

Hmmmm...black spots on the comb/wattle make me think fowl pox. Try this article and see if some of your hens symptoms sounds similar. http://hoeggerfarmyard.com/how-to-easily-diagnose-and-treat-fowl-pox/

The Save A Chick should help if fowl pox. It did mention secondary infections/issues, but if fowl pox then she most likely will make a full recovery. I started keeping chickens in 2009, and earlier this spring I had my first experience with fowl pox - it went through most of my flock (dry pox) but all ended up well...and all combs/wattles/faces look fine now.

I read that exact article earlier. I will give closer examination in morning after she has rested alone tonight. She appears fine other than when she tries to stand she wobbles some. Green runny stool with some white ash colored mixed in. Thanks.

I do agree it looks like she could have some fowl pox, but the more troublesome symptom is the walking on hocks. Could be a B2 (riboflavin) deficiency, I think the sav-a-chick has that in it, if not you can use a human B-Complex tablet which has all the Bvitamins.

Do you know if she was vaccinated for Marek's?
Have you had any new birds added to your flock recently?

Dry Fowl Pox will generally resolve itself in about 2weeks, you can put iodine on the scabs to help them dry out and heal.
