Sick hen.

I lost a young lavender orpington pullet a couple of weeks ago to a crop issue, so the only suggestion I will make is if you have a scale, I would monitor her weight. Try to weigh around the same time of day.

and here's a good chart to make sure she is maintaining good body score. Best of luck with her!

well just curious was it an impacted crop for the current hen. \our Goldie got it when she was in the walkout basement and was recovering from flystrike.. I had given her some fresh cut grass. since she hadnt been outside.. I didNot even think she would gulp it down. plus she had had peanuts etc too...Hubby and I massaged her crop for hours off and on and gave her the Ducolac. We kind of followed the instuctions mentioned in this post
we are going thru something bad right now prob a mushy crop or and or some kind of infection.

My sick hen is a cream legbar, they seem to be much skinnier than the rest of my birds. Not sure if this is just mine or the way the breed is in general. They are smaller than my Welsummers which is what they're in with.

I'm gonna go check her now, she seemed much better this morning and her crop was small.

It's pouring again. Not sure what I should put in their run to soak up all the muddy water. Suggestions?

I've got vitamins that are mixed with probiotics so it will go in their water, good idea!

Possible idea for you?
Alot of places give away pallets for free. I put one in a muddy coop and they loved it. I actually dug a depression and some funnel lines, smaller than the pallet, put the pallet over top of it. Relieved most of the mud during heavy rains and kept them out of the worst part.
