Sick hen

I have a hen that will be 2 yrs in April, yesterday she was walking very slowly and wasn’t eating their scratch that I give them in the evenings. She looked very confused. About 2 months ago I had another one same age, do this and about 2 weeks later found her dead. Any thoughts?

When is the last time she laid an egg?

I would check her over for any bloat or fluid in the abdomen, see that her crop is emptying. Look for lice/mites too. Check her foot and legs for any Scaly Leg Mites, swelling injury or bumblefoot. Consider getting a fecal float to rule out worms as part of the problem.

Sometimes hens can start having reproductive problems which can make them walk more slowly. Encourage her to stay hydrated and eating.
If you happen to lose her, then getting a necropsy through your state lab can give you more information about what caused her decline.
