hello, I have a four year-old bar rock chicken who’s usually full of pep. But today we found her in the bottom of the coop very lethargic not moving at all head down. We brought her inside tried to offer her some sugar water or anything to get her awake. then we put her in an Epson salt bath warm water to see if that may help with an egg bound or something. She still very lethargic. I have to hold her head up with my hand. Her comb isn’t pale, but the tips are purple if anyone knows what’s wrong or if there’s anything we can do to help.

What does her poop look like? Could be coccidia

Her breathing is pretty labored too and almost sticky sounding, but she’s breathing through her nose not her mouth

Ok. Sounds like she has an upper respiratory disease. In PA and Ohio, avian metapneumovirus is going around. Separate her from the rest of the flock. Put her outside in a cage in fresh air - very important. (If there is some way to keep her visually in contact with her flock mates do so.) Get her VetRx drops from Tractor Supply or similar. (herbal drops that really work), open her beak and squeeze a few drops into her mouth. If you can order Tylosin antibiotic from an online supplier like Jedds or Mike Falconry do so asap. I wouldn't try to force feed her as the liquid could accidentally block what's left open of her breathing tube (trachea). You can also gently wipe away snot etc from inside her mouth and nose.
Is she able to open her eyes? You can gently clean away the pus from the eyes with a wet wipe, and put a little Terramycin ointment in each eye. Don't touch the eye itself. Do the VetRx and terramycin 2-3 times a day. Tylosin in water once a day. Although this is a respiratory disease it appears to spread via feces and shared water. So bleach everything she's been in contact with.

You can leave her regular food and water in the cage and she'll start eating again in a day or so. Key is to keep her eyes open so she can see it. You can add some poultrycell or Nutridrench to the water and gently dip her beak in it.
