My little dog a rat terrier got sick last night she was throwing up and drinking a lot of water. She just acts like she is in pain. This morning all she wants to do is drink water. I did read to take the water and food away so I did. Really don't have the money to take her to the vet today any help would be great.

I am concerned that she may be facing kidney failure - any way that she may have gotten into anti freeze?

Really don't think so she is a house dog and when she goes out side I'm with her.

there are many diseases that could have similar symptoms. including eating/drinking something poisonous (toads, certain plants and insects, and antirfreeze are only a few possibilities.
I would NOT withhold water since if it is poison flushing her kidneys is exactly what you want.
this is one of those things that could be nothing or could be life/death. I wouldn't wait to take her to the vet. Some will allow you to make payments. There is also care credit that you can apply for. Or some have programs in place for those that can't afford vet care.

If you are concerned she is painful and she truly is urinating more than usual, I would take her to the vet. You can apply for care credit online before going to the vet so you know ahead of time that you are approved and for how much.

I would not withold water and I would start giving her some bland food (boiled chicken, rice, chicken broth) if she will eat it. Vomiting can sometimes be an emergency, but the pain and frequent urination are more of a worry to me. There are just too many things that can cause those symptoms and you really need a vet to look at her in person.

I did talk to my vet she can't get her in today she said to take food but give water just not a lot at one time. She is not throwing any more so that's good. Still acts like she is in pain but has napped a little through out the day. This happen about 2 years ago took her in and she had infection from eating something she shouldn't have. Was told it could have been a dead frog or rat or something. She did tell me to started her on antibiotics that I have on hand for other animals here. If not better by morning she will be going. Thanks

It's only been about 5 hrs after antibiotics and a little bit of coconut oil and she is doing better not her self just yet but she isn't acting like she is in pain. [IMG]

Happy to say we are doing much better. She's being her noises self. I think she just had a upset stomach. Google had me thinking everything. My husband told me she was ok but she is my child. Thanks for your help!
