I have a sick bantam salmon favorelle. I had first noticed her puffed up and checked her out to find she had a very poopy pasty butt. The poop has a sour smell to it. I have tried to treat her so far for vent gleet, I wormed her and am now giving corid just in case it was one of the cocci's. She is no better and getting worse. I don't believe she will make it. Her crop is not large but kind of feels like sludge in there. She does not smell sour at her beak, only her poop. Her crop does not feel firm nor does it have that water balloon feeling of a sour crop. I am not sure what else I can do for her. She really isn't drinking anymore but I did try to get a little olive oil in her just in case. Any ideas? She is definitely one of my favorites!

The corrid is a good idea. How old is she? Can she have an impacted egg? If she's not drinking, she cant get the medication. Try to keep dribbliing it on the side of her beak.

She is about 2 1/2 years old. Her abdomen is not swollen and I could not feel an egg anywhere. She definitely has lost weight since about a week ago. This is not a good Christmas for me and thank you for taking time out of your Christmas to respond! I have been giving her little bits of water.

There's. a questionaire you can fillout at the top of the emergency category. Other than that it's hard to know what's making them sick.. .I myself usually rule out cocci, if not, I Give a week of penicillin shots.
