I live in south Alabama but it got down to around 25 degrees last night. I went out to check my ducks and chickens this morning and my male mallard was just sitting. I noticed he didn't get it and didn't get up when I touched him either so I knew something was wrong. I have since moved him to a cage with a heat lamp thinking maybe he got too cold last night, not sure.

He will walk if I put him down but very slowly and just to another spot to lay down. His nostrils are running but its clear and watery. He seems to be breathing heavy in my opinion and just watching him his head seems to shiver every now and then. If and when he does move his head, its very slow.

Is there something I need to give him before its too late??

Thanks

The cold weather likely didn't help, but for a healthy duck 25 degrees would be as nothing. I suspect the drake already had a respiratory problem and I'd put him on the appropriate antibiotics.

If money isn't an issue a vet visit would be a better option. Call ahead to be sure the vet has the knowledge to care for poultry.
