Sick Muscovy

Thank you! :hugs She’s got awfully large pills that I have to give, so we will see how that goes. I’m going to at least get her on the right track before I leave. There’s enough to do a full 14 day course on we get back too. I hope that this gets her back to her full strength!
You are most welcome and hopefully this will be her road to recovery.

Update! She was a little shaky this am, but it was chilly and she had just woken up. I successfully pilled her (thanks to an informative post on here), and just gave her her afternoon dose. This afternoon, she has been wild and spunky, teasing her Rouen sisters with mischievous joy. I will give her one more dose tomorrow AM before we go, and will start the official 2 week course when we get back on Sunday! I am so glad that we were able to get her in to see the vet before leaving, and am so thankful for the advice and support I have received here :hugs Now, I’m going to try not to panic about the ducks and cats the entire time I’m gone!:hit

Beautiful Ducks!!!

Enjoy your time away. Hopefully all will be well while your gone
Beautiful Ducks!!!
Thank you both! :hugs I just got home (13 hour drive, yuck!) and all is well! The pet sitter had a brief moment of panic on the first day when she went to transfer the ducks to the duckio and Matilda refused to go in the duckio. Pet sitter thought she was trying to run away, and stuck her back in the barn alone… Told her that Matilda was just trying to head out on her regular morning foraging walk, and that she would never leave her sisters + being in the barn alone would cause much unhappiness for her and Remi. With that sorted, there were no more issues reported! Goon 2 is looking 100% fabulous. Now, I just have to decide whether to start a full course of antibiotics, or let her be as long as she seems 100% normal. I know that the right thing to do is likely to medicate, but she is wild and spunky, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to catch her twice daily. Maybe once I relax a bit, it won’t seem as daunting!

Happy to hear that all is well. I know what you mean about trying to decide whether or not to medicate. Chasing them also stresses them out so I am not sure what I would do in that case. I have been very fortunate to have never had to medicate any of mine as they have all been healthy ducks. Good luck with your decision.

Happy you were able to medicate her. I just saw your other post saying you were.
