I swear, nothing is going right today. Not sure what is going on with my BLRW, she's either sick or going to start laying. She was fine yesterday, and now this. Both her and her sister are 5 months old and combs are getting red. Thoughts?

she looks like she might be ill. how is her poo? how is her breathing? any noises when she breathes? have you checked her vent to see if she has an egg that might be stuck? if that's the case you can give her a calcium pill which will help her lay and perhaps lube her vent with ky jelly. if she is egg bound you might consider a bath to relax her muscles. I would check her vent to see if you can feel an egg that she might be having trouble passing. my pullet just began laying and when she first started I found her head down puffed up and straining
she was having a difficult time passing her egg. she did eventually pass the egg thank God but your bird reminds me of that. so I'd check her to see if that might be happening? I wish you the best. hope she feels better really soon.

No noises with the breaths, but she seems to be reaching for air? She almost crows occasionally, if she was in the next box I would assume she was laying. Her tail is held down. I will check her vent. Just had one of the other girls at the vet for a stuck egg!

Gapeworm, at least two of your birds have it looking at the vid, the two standing still, nasty tracheal parasite that can lead to death if not treated, Ivomec should kill the worms, you can buy this online, usually contracted by eating slugs and worms that play host to the parasite it is quite easily cured if caught in time, my birds have got it a couple of times but only mildly as I have caught it in it's early stages and treated.

Can I get it locally? Tractor Supply? I'm afraid if I order it online it won't arrive in time. Should I do the whole flock? The only two acting strange are the ones that should be laying soon.... :(

Upon closer I inspection I think we have a respiratory infection going on. Can I deworm with safeguard and also give antibiotics? What kind. I have clavamox mixed with a quart of water for my hen that was egg bound.

Sorry I never responded sooner I don't get email updates to replies even though I've subscribed! how are your girls? I live in the UK so not sure where you could get meds or what type in the US I hope you have managed to cure them
