Sick Peachick

My husband says that she may have got bit by a snake or swallowed a bug but I dont know....so two days ago I noticed her kinda off on her own and wings droopy and it was super hot here so I thought maybe thats why her wings were droopy and yesterday she was still acting unusual so I brought her in and not 3 hours later she died! Im puzzled I must say! Now im going crazy not knowing what happened!

Sorry for your loss. I've noticed in mine that there is correlation between those liquid white poops and dehydration/coccidiosis.

She was in a pen with 5 other peachicks, do you recommend I treat them all with Corid? I dont want to lose anymore! I fought for a long time with Little Eagle and shes so beautiful today. I dont know what to do!

You might want to treat everyone with Corid and Safeguard. It's also probably a good time to weigh all of them. Then the next time one looks even slightly off, weigh it, and if it's lost weight you'll know something is wrong.

I started all my birds on Corid as well as safegaurd yesterday, it was really rainy all of last night and today so all of my birds are just moping around and it seems like they do that in cold weather. I have my peachicks seperated from my older pea's, my peachicks are in a 25'× 50' pen so their not crowded. I will the 4 chicks weighed in the morning and keep track and monitor their weight. I havent buried my peachick yet because im hoping can contact a vet and have the birds examined.....hoping!

Kathy, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Blackhead a quick killer? I don't know if it would be too long dead, could a fecal float be done from the poo left inside of the bird?
It really depends on when you notice symptoms and whether or not they also have a secondary E. coli infection. Negative fecal floats are common in birds with blackhead, and I'm guessing it's because of the damage the do the the intestines. Here is a picture that I posted in another thread:

I had no idea the severity of Blackhead I still have the meds you sent me to treat Blackhead. Do sick birds with Blackhead have the clear watery poo's? I havent noticed and symptoms or signs of illness and any of my o the chicks. The sun is starting to come out finally today so I will be able to tell if anyone dragging their wings and moping around while the others are active and running around. -Kathy

Of all the birds of mine that I have seen blackhead in, or what I supected was blackhead, none had clear poop. This one is the closest to clear I had seen:
LL

Necropsy confirmed blackhead and secondary baterial infection.

Weigh all birds, then give all birds Safeguard at 0.05 ml per 100 grams orally for five days. If you need help calulating doses, let me know their weights and I'll do the math for you.

Are they all drinking enough water?

Which pills did I send you, are they the 100mg, 250mg, 400mg? Can you post a picture of the pills?
