Peabody is about a month old (born June 4th) and he's got a crusty, shut eye and he sounds a bit raspy. He really sounds and looks like he has a cold. What can I do for him?

I don't know about the cold, but i'd put something on the crusty eye. maybe poly or Neosporin? do you have a humidifier? treat him just like a normal baby. If you feel its an infection get him on antibiotics :) I'm no professional, just my best guess.

I read a thread this morning about Infectious Bronchitis. I'm at work now so I can't check his throat for mucus (Rooster Man is home with him) but as soon as I get home I'm going to look. The Man has put Peabody into quarentine until then and cleaned his eye up well. He says Peabody is still chirping and seems generally happy, aside from the crust and rasp.

The eyes looks better but his right I was completely stuck shut this morning. I used a wet warm cloth and rubbed from front to back not really rubbing... Gentely gliding the cloth across his eye lid till it softened and broke up the crust. I have done nothing more than that and clean the brooder really good. And quarinteed him. His has fresh food and water. Has been doing better and is still very chatty now. Looks better but I would rather see if there is anything we can do before it gets worse.

Very astute of you to post the poo picture. Until I saw that I wasn't comfortable making any statement. I would suggest that you take a fresh sample to the vet and have a fecal float examination. They should be able to tell you if it has Coccidious or what type of worms you need to treat for. Call ahead to the vet and ask if they do it in-house and how much they charge. Sample should be as fresh as possible, collect it in a baggie and mix it well before you hand it to them. Call around for best pricing, most any vet that treats dogs and cats should be able to do it.

Having cocci or worms will weaken a bird and you will see things like respiratory infections take hold.
