My Peahen looks like her neck is swollen. Do anyone know what is wrong with her? Thanks

Poor girl!

It's not clear where the swelling is - do you mean in the front where it's puffed out?
If so, that's where her crop is, has she been eating normally?
Hopefully the experts will jump in here soon.

Oops, I am NOT a pea anatomy expert and should have written "I think that's where her crop is."
Sorry.

Without seeing her in person i couldn't begin to tell ya what is wrong with your pretty
hugs.gif

i have seen mine fly into things and injure their breast area and they acted like this for a while.
Is she eating ok?

Yes in front she has been like that for 2 days and the others is not like that and they are in the same pen.

My Husband said she was eating,This is my 1st time with Peacocks and i am trying so hard. What do everyone feed your peas?

What are you feeding yours?
mine free range so they eat all kinds a stuff but they always get scrambled eggs and scrambled eggs with oatmeal ,nuts and fruit or veggies, depending what is in the garden at the time.
Mine can have access to corn and flock raiser but they do not eat that much of it and prefer the stuff around the ponds and of course their egg concoctions.

I grow them sorghum

All the peas love Chick weed that grows wild here

I planted them wild flowers they love the petals and seeds they make later on

Introducing rose petals to the wee peas

i grow them watermelons and cantaloupe too

Scrambled eggs with nuts and berries

swiss chard out of the garden

Mine are in a pen and we feed them Corn, bread, pelletts and laying mash.

Can you catch her and feel the area? Might have banged into something or another bird could have hit her and she has an air (bubble) pocket there.

What part and side of the neck is it on? Is she still eating and drinking? Is the swelling hard, sofft or squishy?
