sick peahen?

Thank you for all of the information. The gurgling has stopped. She does not have any discharge that I can see. The only antibiotic I have is injectable tetracycline and penicillin for goats and sheep but I do have Sustain 111 Calf Bolus which is a pill of sulfamethazine I used for coccydiosis in sheep.
She seems better and really enjoys the dry cat food which has a lot of protein. I give the three several handsfull a day.
I do have a vet I use for the livestock and will call him
Thanks again for the information

So glad she is better! Just to clarify, cuz I don't think we ever really said it, mouth breathing is not normal in a pea hen. So you were right to look into it and watch her closely. Peas are susceptible to sinus infections and other respiratory infections and do not necessarily look sick until they are quite ill, so it's very good to watch closely as you did. Gape worm can be another reason. Also overheating, but doubt that you have things too hot in January lol. Anyway, whenever you see a pea hen opening her mouth to breathe, it's smart to check it out.
