Ok this is weird my sick Pekin duck which I posted about on another post asking wether it was Bumblefoot or not still not walking very good still using her wings to crawl. I have pulled the black stuff out and have done the epsom salt and all twice a day. She’s eating well and drinking but I just noticed both sides of her tongue look black or brown. What is that? She is inside my house so not getting any dirt inside her mouth.

That is something I've never seen before, how is she acting? She’s doing good as far as eating and drinking but still not walking well.

If you take a q-tip and gently rub the black stuff does it come off?
I did do that and it seems to be normal. Majestic Waterfowl told me it might be normal 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi, sorry for posting in an old thread but my duck also has the exact same thing!
He seems to be doing fine but got a bit finnicky with food, he would try a bit of the food then spit it out, and would keep doing that until he can get the food down.
Not sure if its because the black spot is causing pain.

Ive read somewhere that chickens can also develop fully black tongues and its because of niacin deficiency.

Any ideas people?

My duck did just fine and she is doing great so I wouldn’t be concerned unless she was acting sick like not eating or drinking. Hope that helps 😊

Thanks a lot! Definetly eased me there, glad to hear that your duck is doing great too! :D

Oh, and does she still has the black spot on her tongue? Just curious hehe
