Sick pullet

I have a cuckoo maran pullet who has been losing weight pretty fast this week. I see her pecking at the food for hours but when I check her crop it is completely empty, she is starting to get slower but she is still pretty active. I tried feeding her scrambled eggs and she did not want them, I started to treat her with corid because I have had a lot of trouble with coccidiosis this year. She is almost 22 weeks old. Her face is getting a little pale and she has a weird little bump on her beak, kinda like a snood on a poult. She has had that bump for as long as I can remember though.

I don’t know what could be ailing your pullet but I sure hope she will recover shortly

What does her poop look like? Has she had access to a compost pile? Have you examined the inside of her mouth? Sometimes a chicken will pick up a wire or hair or a string and it can get lodged in the throat or wrapped around the tongue.

What has she been eating? Anything that she hasn't eaten before? Have you inspected her for mites? How about checking the coop after dark for mites? How about an injury that may have become infected?

How long since she has been treated for coccidiosis, and did you use Corid? How do her eyes look to you? Are they clear and is the color and pupil size normal compared to the others. In the picture, her eye looks a bit cloudy. Could she be having trouble seeing her food? Can you offer some cooked egg or tuna to get her eating? Wet chicken feed is also good to use. Get her drinking some water, and electrolytes can be added. Poultry NutriDrench is good.The bump on her beak is something that I have seen before on BYC. Some think it is a virus, while others think it can be from a peck or injury. If you have Corid, I would consider treating her again. She looks weak.

I agree with eggcessive put electrolyte into her water. My rooster was attacked by fox and he was lethargic and wouldn't drink or eat anything. I bought rooster booster electrolyte for him and he drank it up after that.

I don't have a compost pile, I don't see anything in her mouth, she is blinking in that picture, She had mites but I killed them a while ago, I am using corid and just started today.

I would try to get her drinking the Corid water by offering it often. If you have the liquid Corid, give her a couple of drops of the undiluted Corid twice a day for awhile. Do not give vitamins with electrolytes while on the Corid, but you give them when it is finished. I really hope she will start feeling better.

I will try to get a picture tomorrow after school. She was dewormed like 3 weeks ago and has been inside for a little over a week because she was sick.
