She is 5.5 mo old
She started checking nests and mating 2 weeks ago
2-3 days ago she laid an soft egg in nest
It was like ruptured balloon and yellow orangish yolk oozing out of it
She hasnt laid an egg ( except that soft egg )
Today she is acting little lazy
She keep standing sleeping for like 15 min and then forage like nothing happened

Its like foraging 30 min standing still for 10 min

I soaked her in warm water I thought she is egg bound
Nothing came out
She was inthe box and she pooped there
It was semi solid mass

She also has white thick liquid around fuzz

Is she egg bound ??
Or I am worried for nothing

Any help ??

Sorry I cleaned that
It was not lash egg for sure
( Idk how to explain that )
Her poop was water with pinch of grinded feed sprinkled over it

She is closing eyes and dozing for some time
And then foraging like nothing happened
She yells and going into nest and coming out

Mom said she is egg bound and we should cull her
I dont want her tobe culled 😰😰😰

You can check for a bound egg. You can feel her vent area to see if it's hard (in other words feel for an egg). Or you can insert a gloved and lubed finger into her vent. If she's bound, you should be able to feel an egg.

Egg bound chickens often need repeated soaks in Epsom baths and extra calcium to aid contractions. Crush up a calcium tablet and feet it to her.

Does she eat layer feed? Or does she get oyster or some other calcium source in addition to her feed?

No need to cull an egg bound pullet without trying to help her!

I am too bad in this
She was inthe nest and sang egg song and left without egg

She sings egg song before and after coming out of coop

Is this starting of egg bound or this is completely normal ??

Normal, most of the time. New layers in particular sometimes do this, but I have older girls who still do this sometimes. If you see this along with other behavior - typically lethargy and walking with legs apart and tail down, like a penguin - then it's time to worry.

Are you seeing any of that? You said she closes her eyes for a bit. Does it look like she's trying to push out an egg? Is she panting? Has she pooped recently?

I caught her sleeping or standing or both for like 5-10 min twice inthe morning when all were foraging
She is not lethergic or walking like penguine
She has only laid one egg ( that was soft shell egg 2 days ago )
Thats why I thought she is sick

I am so confused now
Unless she lay an egg I cant be sure

She pooped twice Both were water solid mix

Thanks you all replied
