I have a red golden pheasant . I bought it in a crate of ringnecks at the auction tonight . I know it the risk u take buying at an auction,

Underneith it's eye is all puffy and it has what looks like bubbles around the eye . It had dried buggers/ mucus on it's nose .

Does it have a cold ? I gave it tetracycline ( sp?) in the water .. Hood that was a good thing ?

Any help suggestion appreciated

I would try some Tylan 50 if it was one of my goldens. About 1 CC down its throat for a day or two should due. It works miracles on my peafowl when they get a similiar situation (puffy eye, bubbly nose)

I agree with bandbaustin, Tylan 50 is the best....Works fast to. I've had golden do this or even if I hear any of my pheasants in any of the species sneeze, look weak I use tylan 50. If you can bring yourself to take some a needle with Tylan 50 and inject a few drops of the tylan into the puffy area he may bleed some but, should be very helpfull.
Best of LUCK

Forgot to say after injection....give him 1cc for three day by mouth. Do keep him away from all other...keep an eye on the birds in the bunch. It's can spread to other birds.

Have to agree Tylan works wonders. I actually prefer the Tylan 200 and inject 1/2 cc into the breast or skin at the back of the neck. I do one injection, skip a day and if not better, do a second one on day 3. Rarely do I have to do the second one. In my opinion it's as easy to inject as to give by mouth and gets into their system quicker. It's helpful to have someone hold while injecting but I have also done this by myself by wrapping the bird in a towel and laying on my lap.

injection will work also, but I prefer oral dosing due to tylan's affects on muscle tissue. I use 50 on smaller birds such as pheasants and 200 on peafowl. It is rather inexpensive and available at TSC. Good luck with your bird

Yes I bought Tylon 200 at TSC. Was on back shelf they use it on cows pigs horses. Have 2 lady amhrst chicks I bought week and a half ago at 6 weeks of age they are realy sick. Eyes swollen shut looked like blood and pus running out their noses. Looked healthy when I received them.
You guys can maybe post a picture so I can know if I give the injection the right way?

i have some pheasants as well and they didnt start sneezing until after i put on the peepers...i dont believe they are sick...maybe they just dont like the peepers....any ideas
