Sick rooster with red beak

Several days ago I noticed one of my roosters wasn’t as lively as usual and was just slightly more hunched than he should have been. His crop was empty but he wasn’t abnormally thin just not as bulky as usual. He was sitting with his eyes close way more than he should have been and they were kind of dull looking.I also noticed that the top half of his beak was really short. I’ve been giving him chicken rx and chicken elixir to help a little. He isn’t eating on his own so I’ve been mixing up a mash and gently pushing his head into it then he’ll chew and swallow. He’s still preening himself and crowing. Then today I took him to feed him and noticed that his beak looked red. I looked closer and it’s like you can see all the veins in the top beak. Strangely the bottom beak is totally normal. Does anyone know what is causing this or how I can help him.

Has he been rubbing his beak against wire fencing and possibly skinned off the outer layer of his beak?
He’s in a wire cage in our shop with another hen as they are part of my breeding programs. I’ve never had any other birds with this issue in the same type of penning. If this is the cause what would be my next step

Does he seem anxious inside the wire cage with the hen? Is he running into the cage trying to get out? Can he see other birds or a rooster outside that he might be getting stirred up about? Is there any sharp feeder that could have done this? Is it chicken wire or a crate? Could the hen be pecking his beak? I’m not sure what to do, unless you keep him off the wire or put him in larger quarters. Maybe others will have a suggestion. They can damage or break their beaks sometimes, and that would be bad.

He’s been in this pen for a while nothing has changed. He hasn’t seemed nervous or anything like that. His feeder is just smooth plastic that I don’t know how it would hurt anything.

I haven’t seen much improvement and he’s starting to get thinner. I’ve mixed an aspirin solution and gave him that hoping it might help. His poop is green which I understand means he isn’t eating. There’s also some yellowish parts that are thick and stretchy. The picture shows this. Is there anything I can put on his beak to help?

Can you let him out of the cage to walk around? I don’t know what your set up is like. Have you offered him some chicken feed made a little wet with water, and offered some scrambled egg, cat food, or tuna that might make him hungry? He might be depressed being locked up. Does his beak seem sore? It should heal in time on it’s own when he is not rubbing it on metal fencing. But that takes time.

I’ve been taking him outside to walk around. I’ve been mixing his food and electrolytes and water to make a mash which I make him eat twice a day because he won’t eat other wise. He doesn’t seem to be in pain when I touch his beak. Today I gave him aspirin and he was more willing to eat afterwards.
