Sick Rooster!

Today is watery poop again. Maybe it's from the meds. I was able to stay home from work and keep him company. I ha e him out and about i n the livi g room with me. We really need one of this diapers!

So we just finished giving his second dose and he already looks better. The smell is almost gone completely. He is drinking and eating. His poop has turned a shade of Brown instead of green and it's solid not liquid. I really appreciate everyone's help. I plan on posting a picture tomorrow evening. The sores have reduced also. :D Hopefully it's not too early to celebrate.

Glad to hear he is improving!

Watery poop may be from the meds, give him some time for his system to adjust.
I hope he continues to get better. Thank you for updating your thread, we look forward to new photos:)

So here is the pic of before we started the meds and the pic of 2 doses. The 2nd pic is not as clear but you can still see how much it has gotten better.

Question....if he has been on meds for 3 days can we bring in the female to be with him? What if we do t let them drink or eat out of the same bowl while she is inside?

Canker is infectious to other birds, and I believe they remain carriers, but I am not a real expert. In flocks where canker is present, then many use the acidified copper sulfate 3 days a month (1/4 tsp per gallon of water) to help prevent the spread. So if it were me, I would at least wait until all yellow plaques in the beak are gone. Many vets recommend culling birds with canker, so it doesn’t spread in the flock. I do realize that a lot of pet chicken owners chosse to treat it instead.
