Sick Sebbi back from Vet - Impaction of ( stomach)?

Back from the vet after my gander started to show listlessness after his first night outside and the rest of the day. His sister is fine but he has been depressed and weak since Monday afternoon. He drinks but did not want to eat. Vet says he sees geese around here with impaction quite often because of the sand. He gave him some Min Oil and told me to do that 3 times a day and also give him metamusal to try to soften the blockage. I have been hand feeding him formula and give him nutri drench vitamins in his water. Anyone been through this? Any other advice..................

Crop impaction or something internal? Crop you can feel from the outside. If not the crop- did they take an x-ray to see the sand blockage?

Internal compaction. No X-rays taken, just felt the abdomen .... He said because it came on so suddenly he believes that is the problem and that his (medical term) was much larger than it should be.....

Proventriculus? I imagine that is what he said? Waterfowl can get impacted there. Sometimes, very rarely, I have heard them also getting Proventricular Dilation Disease, but I have seen that more in exotic birds. If it is suddenly swollen there though, I am sure it probably is an impaction. Oil or surgical removal is generally the course of action in that case.

I think that is what he said. He was afraid my boy was too weak to survive trying to remove it surgicaly. I am hoping he will come around soon. he is still pretty weak... : (
