1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)

Silkie, approx 5 years, was a rescue. Very tiny bird so feels the same but I’m unsure. Rescued from the same flock a couple years ago as the bird I posted about recently who passed. They were dehydrated and malnourished if that could have an effect on anything years later...

2) What is the behavior, exactly.

A bit lethargic, head slightly tilted. A bit wobbly. Sleepy but responds when I try to get her to drink.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?

I only noticed today, didn’t seem wonky when I saw her a day before.

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?

Not that I can see, they all look very alert and healthy. Only bird that was near this was the one that just passed in a totally different coop and different symptoms entirely.

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

No.

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

I’m very unsure, she was doing fine as far as I know till I saw her today.

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.

No food yet, showed interest when I picked it up but wouldn’t take it. Has taken some sips of water.

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

Poop is very runny, green and white...

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?

I have separated her from the flock but I’m not sure where to go from here, got a corid drench and a vitamin drench that’s all I know I can do.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?

I would like to keep it home treatment as money is tight and avian vets in our area are sparse and expensive.

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

None sorry I don’t want to stress her.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use.

They live in a very ventilated house with pine shavings as bedding, with recent rains it has been tough keeping their bedding totally dry but now that it’s dry I’ll be cleaning.

Need to know as much as possible so I can treat my flocks as needed. Have 24 birds including the sick bird and don’t want to lose them 😥

Can you post some photos of her and her poop?

In your title you mention head tilt - possibly Wry Neck which is a neurological symptom. Some common causes are disease like Marek's, head/neck trauma and sometimes nutritional/vitamin deficiency.

What do you feed? I would see that she's drinking well. If she's got Wry Neck symptoms, then I would try Vitamin therapy. 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 B-Complex once a day. Offer bits of scrambled egg too.

Corid and extra vitamins don't go together. If you feel that Coccidiosis is her problem, then don't give any vitamin therapy until you finish the Corid treatment.

Give her a checking over - look for lice/mites, inside her ears for debris/mites/infection, inside her beak for any lesions and see that her crop is emptying overnight (it should be flat in the morning before she's ate/drank).

Is she laying eggs? Feel her abdomen below the vent between her legs for bloat/swelling. At 5 years of age, she may be having some reproductive issues that are contributing to her symptoms.

I will check all in the morning and get back to you with everything asked. I will refrain from the corid, I think vitamins definitely are the problem here. I do know, no mites and no lesions. No blood in her poop at least I’ll try to get a picture it’s just quite runny, but not sticking to her.
I’m hoping it’s not Merek’s, we’ve been very careful about cleaning and making sure our coops stay as clean as possible but I know that doesn’t totally matter for this case... I’ll keep doing just the vitamin therapy to see if it is going to be a helpful things for her.
I will be back in the morning with pictures and hopefully a bird that’s getting better.
