sick silkie please help. (w/pic)

I'm going to be following this thread because my Silkie, Ethel is showing the same symptoms as yours! I figured it might be an impacted crop, but it doesn't really seem like it.

Like yours, mine went broodyone day and has never laid an egg for the last couple months either.

I really hope someone can help you (and me!) out with our girls.

Silkies usually don't lay in the winter. Maybe this is why neither of your girls is laying right now.

I think it might be internal parasites. Have you wormed?

Sorry you have to see your poor girls like this

Totally not fun.

Silkies will lay all yr around mine do. I just had two go broody and between the two them hatched 18 and I lost 2 out the first one. I would say worm her and give her some vitamin/electro water to help her. Worms dont always show up in the poop. They can present in some strange ways.

ok great it has been a couple of months since I wormed. I have electrolytes in her water but I will put the wormer in too! thanks yall I REALLY REALLY hope it works
sunshyn225 I hope your girl gets better too!

No I sure didn't I was just worming to worm for safety but it has been a while... I have wazine but is there a better way more effective way? or is waxine good?

also can yall tell me how you properly deworm I have just added it to the water? but I want to make sure I do everything right for my sweet girl. and the rest of my babies.

1/2 cc of Valbazen for grown and 1/4 for smaller chickens give it to them directly with a syringe no needle and then in 10 days give it again to kill any eggs that have hatched. Some people do it every 3 months. You can search on hear for more info some people use of other kinds as well. I use Safeguard for equine a pea size it has a 24 hr turn around on eggs the Valbazen has like a 15 day or something like that. Wazine doesnt kill all the worms from what I have done research on.

I sure hope your girl is better today. I lost my girl (Ethel) last night....
