I have purchased silkies from my feed store. 2 different times within a week of each other. They are about the same age, within 3-5 days.
I brought the newest flock of 4 home Thursday evening. Since then 2 have died. 1 yesterday, one today. The first one was a surprise cause it seemed fine the night before.
The second one was smaller and a bit weaker than the others but was improving every day, I check all my chicks twice a day thoroughly. From beak to toenail.
I was gone for most of the day and when I got home I found this one dead.
Could they have been dehydrated? My son mentioned that the one that passed today was pooping yellow, and it was runny. I've kept the broader at 75, but it has also been warm inside due to warm weather.
They have been eating and drinki,g fine.
I just don't know....

gee im sorry about that it looks like you need a hug

I wish I knew. hopefully someone knows whats going on and will jump in.

Was the whole area of the brooder at 75 degrees?

I'm not sure from your first post how old the chicks are. Are they all between 3-5 days old, or is there a 3-5 day age difference between the two groups?

if any thing it was to cold. if there was a heat lamp were they huddling under ,trying to get away from it or just comfortably walking around? if theres no heat lamp then 75 degrees if any thing is to low. I think they must have gotten sick before you got them.

I had the heat lamp on them and they were playing and running around. They slept in groups and not directly under the heat lamp.
Maybe they were sick. Should I quarentine them from the others?
