Sick Turkey has a bum foot- but what is it?

I'll get some tonight- I'm going to try an Epsom salt foot soak- at the very least, it'll clean up the feet, and I'll have a helper to hold Sick Turkey so I can get plenty of photos. I realize "limp with a green streak" isn't the most helpful description of a foot!

Alright, pictures from this morning. I soaked both feet (it was easier that way) in a warm Epsom salt bath for about 10 minutes. Fortunately, Sick Turkey didn't seem to mind! He is very happily eating, drinking, and hopping merrily around his dog crate- he's got great attitude, just doesn't want to use this foot.

So, here we have The Foot in comparison to the other. He kind of just lets it dangle, but doesn't pull it away if you handle it or manipulate his toes. They are very limp, and have no strength whatsoever.

The bottom of the foot is green-tinged, but not to the same degree as the top. There's dark marks on the outside toe and just around the ankle joint, but no obvious swelling that looks different from his good foot.

The dark marks are on the top of his foot too, to some degree, and you can see that the green extends to between his toes.

I turned up the heat in his room and made sure to dry him thoroughly before leaving this morning. When I left, he was VERY happily picking the mealworms out from around the crumbles in his bowl.

A friend suggested green tissue might be cancer cells, but he's only 15 weeks old!

Hopefully the pictures help some- he doesn't seem to be worried about his foot, but I don't want whatever it is to spread or get worse!

I have never seen anything like that, so if you live in the US, you might want to send those pictures to an avian pathologist at your State lab, they might be able to give you some advice. I have found the pathologists in CA very helpful when try to diagnose my birds. Of course they can't legally tell you how to treat, but they can say what it looks like.

I guess I'll try twice daily Epsom salt soaks and see where we are in a week- at the very least, it won't hurt! Fortunately, Sick Turkey (who I may name Brine) doesn't mind the soaking, and is pretty cooperative!
