I have a peachick who has had a rough start. It was stuck in it's egg and I helped it out. It has curled toes and I booted them and they are now pretty straight. Things were going well and today I noticed he was very lathergic and has a runny white poop. I gave it some sugar water and egg yolk. It drank a lot but wasn't interested in eating. What could be the problem and what should I do?

Thanks!

Hi
If it is drinking try to add 5mL of apple cider vinegar to 1L of water. This will help strengthen it's immune system and stop it from having that runny white poop. I hope it is ok and that this helps :)

I just went through the same thing. My little one had I had to help out of egg also.,curled toes but since it was so weak I left alone and they straightened out when he got stronger. I had a small ear cleaner dropper. I gave mine electrolytes which I didn't have any on hand but knew gator aide is the same as pedi lite for kids. My little guy was laying on his side eyes half open limp. I gave him a tiny bit every 2 hours and he is doing great now. Best of luck.

Sadly it happens and many times we do not know why. Sometimes it is even for the best but it don't make it any easer

I'm so sorry. I have learned here that pea eggs and chicks are so fragile, but luckily when we get them past a year (exception varmints) we should have them for possibly 40 years. It really hurts when the eggs don't hatch after waiting or the chick dies.

Sad but true

and it is not like you can just start over as the laying season is so short for some peas
