Sickly Hen! Please Help ASAP!

The only thing deterring me from thinking that the fluid is a soft shelled egg (or no shell) is that she layed a perfectly fine egg minutes before I checked and noticed any fluid. She lays the weirdest color eggs, half white and half brown( I guess because she is a mixed breed), and of I hadn't seen her lay it, I would've known it was her egg anyways.

So I separated Whitey (that's her name,I'm very creative lol) so I could monitor her. I went and checked on her this morning, and she
immediately ran up to the gate to be let out. I let her out and noticed that where she was sleeping had that
liquid hanging down. (I'll
insert pictures in another reply) I tools her to the front yard so I can monitor her but she can still free range. She is more active than yesterday. Although she is still making these pitiful
croaking noises.

I looked at the post you sent me, and she has the white banded eggs, which concerns me since she might have vent gleet.

Unfortunately I do not know her exact age as she was an accidental hatchling, but in pretty sure she is 2-2.5 ish.

I feed all the chickens layer feed from Southern states, but I do occasionally give them chick feed from Southern States as well.

In going to include possible stressing activities since one of the causes of White Banded Eggs is stress. So back in January,we moved her and our two other hens into the coop at our house. Unfortunately my oldest hen died from the stress and old age, but the others were happily living in the coop and free ranging since we did not have the run attached yet. Then I got chicks in march, and when it was time to move them into the coop, the hens wanted to peck at them. So I put the hens into our unattached run , where they proceeded to go through a molt and start laying again. Then recently, in the end of May, we attached the run to the coop, but the hens still attacked my chicks. So we moved them to an old rabbit hutch(where Whitey stayed last night) and let them free range completely. Then I let the hens into the coop (at night, as I've heard that works) and now they live with the chicks full time. The chicks range from 3months old to a month and a half.

Sorry for such a long reply. I'm going to give Whitey a bath in a couple minutes.

Upon further looking I realize that I got the ages of the chicks wrong. 3mos—2.5mos is correct. Sorry, and here's the photo of the weird dangling fluid

Whereabouts are you located? With the heat wave that we have been experiencing in my area, the chickens are drinking a lot more water. Does she have plenty of shade and water available?

I'm located about halfway down the east coast . It is very hot here, and I change the water once a day. I'm looking into getting a larger water holder , since I am currently using 2 oil pan like dishes. I do have a nipple waterer set up, but the chickens don't know how to use it.

Looks like egg whites/egg matter to me.

Can you post a photo of her eggs?
Do you offer oyster shell free choice?

Provide her with some poultry vitamins and see that she is drinking and eating well. Dehydration comes quickly in warmer weather. Since she isn't feeling well, she may not be drinking enough.

So the first photo is of her butt after the bath.

The second is of a weird spot I found on her. She was pecking her feathers after the bath, so it may have been where she pulled a feather out.

And the third is of her egg. The white isn't as smooth as the brown.

The vent looks good - I don't see any Vent Gleet, just a healthy vent. She most likely is having troubles passing her egg. Hopefully by reducing stress, providing some vitamins, oyster shell free choice and it little extra protein like egg or tuna, she will be fine.

The "weird spot" you found is her oil gland/preening gland - official name is "Uropygial Gland". Leave that alone. The gland excretes an oil that chickens will get onto their beak and spread throughout their feathers. So her behavior after the bath is completely normal.
