About a month ago we had a rooster that started acting weird. At first he was getting bullied by our other rooster but it didn’t look that serious so we just left it alone but then I went to let them out one morning and I didn’t see the rooster so I went looking for him and found him laying in our shed and he couldn’t balance on his feet and was really uncoordinated. I then separated him from the rest of them and gave him food and water (which he ate) and then a couple hours later he was dead. We couldn’t see anything physically wrong with him so it came to a shocker for us. Then a couple weeks late I saw one of our hens kind of acting weird. Separating herself from the others, not active, kind of “curling” up into her self and I thought she was being bullied so I ended up rehoming her but now another one of our hens is starting to act the same way.

Could be Marek's. :hmm

Marek's Virus FAQ

Depending on age and other symptoms, many things can look like Marek's. It is said to be in EVERY chicken keeping environment. Only way to know for sure is getting a necropsy.. free or affordable to back yard keepers in most states as a means of protecting our food supply chain. Links to help if you're in the US..

How to Send a Bird for a Necropsy

State poultry labs

Please don't rehome another bird without confirming cause for condition. Sorry for you previous loss and that you face this. Consider adding your general location to your profile as can help folks make their most relevant suggestion possible at a glance.

Age of bird and where did they come from, how many in flock, normal feed routine including treats and supplements, last egg laid, current weather conditions, any recent changes, any possible oil/chemical spill or moldy feed by chance?

:fl
