My chickens look like they have narcolepsy or some kind of siezures. One hen sticks out a wing and stretches out a leg and then stand there like a statue making a weird noise. Then I noticed she did it again today but she laid down (almost on her side) and did it. My rooster came up behind her , made a weird noise and laid down and did the same thing up next to her. They don't shake, they are perfectly still. I walk up to them and they didn't move, then they "snap out of it" and go about their business like nothing happend.

Is this in the sun? They're sunbathing! It looks really scary when you first see it, especially if you see it from a distance because they can look pretty dead, but really they're just having a nice sunbath and enjoying themselves :)

I was totally shocked the first time I saw one of my pullets lay down....I didn't know chickens did that! :)

What surprised me too was when I first brought them home as chicks, they would be walking around doing what chicks do and then just drop their heads and fall asleep! It was hilarious to watch!

I'm not sure it's sunbathing. My hen did this standing up one time. she was walking and all of a sudden stretched her leg out behind her and "froze" making that funny noise for about a minute or so. Then, bam, she shook her head and continued walking. I guess we can use them for entertainment, as long as it isn't something life threatening.
