I use starter grower all the time and don't have a problem with the dust, because I use DIY no waste feeders. They don't have much of a choice, either eat the dust with the crumble or go hungry.

Here is something you might try but it is a little more work. Take the feed away for a long enough period so they are good and hungry. Then feed them. If they are hungry they will eat the feed not toss it. Once they are full, take the feed away. Do this twice a day or so for several days and see if that helps. My last bag of layer crumble was mostly dust & my hens started just flinging it out of the feeder all over the floor. So I read the tip here to just add water & OMG they love it. The soupier the better too, I think because then they don't have to bother going to the waterer, lol. Lazy birds.
So now that they picked up the bad habit of flinging feed out of the feeder they started doing it with the pellets. Feed everywhere again.![]()
I keep water in the fridge during heat waves and use to make a very wet mash. They love it.What a great idea to make mash - I'm on it !!! Couldn't believe how much feed I was scooping up with nasty bedding - I'm not fond of wasting money so making a mash will be great, especially if I use cold water to help keep them cooler.
