Sig Line Links Refuse to Update When Thread Title Changes-Ongoing Issue

Not sure if anyone else if having this issue, but thought I'd bring it to the attention of the staff. The links to my ads in my signature line, and there are three potential links there as you know, are all being used. One of them, however, will not change as I change the title. This one is in the Free Rehoming section:

See that link? It is not the thread title and has not been for at least two weeks-I've changed it at least twice that I recall and it just will not change. I've deleted that link, logged out and logged back in, etc, anything I could think of doing and it just won't fix itself. It's really beginning to bug me now.

The correct ad title now reads:

As you can tell, I'm changing the title to coincide with the age of the bird I'm trying to rehome.

And the link in the sig line does not go to the thread anyway, it goes to an album which then has a link to the thread. Not sure if this has anything to do with it not being technically like one of the other classifieds, having that type of input, but like a regular thread, but anyway, just thought I'd bring up the subject for your attention. Thanks!

Hey Cyn, thanks for the note!

Let me make sure I understand. You want to remove the "DelaRock Cockerel 7 Wks" album from your signature and in it's place you want to add the "Delaware-Barred Rock X Cockerel 9 Wks" post?

If that's not what you are trying to do, then sorry I misunderstood and will need more clarification.

If that is what you are trying to do, the problem might be that the system doesn't allow users to insert non "listings" into their signatures. Right now the posts in "Animals In Need of Free Re-Homing" are all regular threads and not setup as BST listings (where you have to put in a price, etc.). We might need to change that, but I'll need to talk to the rest of the team to see if we set it up like that on purpose (or you could join us again back in the staff section and ask

Yes, that was my intent, Rob. It gives me a drop down menu to put links to many of my threads into my sig line, including classifieds. It just doesn't change the title of that thread/rehoming ad when I change it to reflect the age of the bird from week to week.

Oh, I saw how you snuck that last part in there, Robert. Tisk, tisk.

Rob, I don't think you understand the problem here. I don't want my link to go to an album. I linked to a THREAD in classifieds, not some album. The system did that, sent it to some album. I didn't make any album. I made a free rehoming thread, then used the drop down menu choices, one of the three we are allowed in the "Show Stuff in Your Signature", to link to the classified ad. It didn't do what it is supposed to do. Not sure how better to explain the issue here.

Thanks for the clarification Cyn. There are actually a few things going on here:

1) The album names aren't changing when a thread title is changed (not really the main issue you're reporting, but your report helped to expose it).
2) "Show off your stuff" "Yes, for now the only things that can be displayed in "show my stuff" are albums, lists, and BST listings. We'll need to either make the free items section actual "listings" (like the rest of BST) or put in a request to have the techs allow us to list any thread, even those that are not BST listings in "show my stuff".

I wasn't sure you really understood what the problem was, Rob. If it can't be fixed, that's fine, but I wanted to try to make sure you really understood what I was trying to say. I wasn't really sure you were entirely getting it. Thanks for sticking with me here. It's not a huge deal, really, but that little sig line link does draw attention to the classified, at least, if it works correctly. And I really need to rehome some birds here, lol, as apparently do many other folks this summer, I see.

No problem Cyn, I'm happy to help our BYC mother hen any time she needs it!

The easiest fixes are as follows:

1. You can link to the non-BST threads in your regular signature
2. I'll work back with the rest of the team to figure out why we created the rehoming as non-BST listings (my guess is that it's so brand new members don't have to wait to have the posting minimums and/or so it doesn't contribute to their max active listings)

Well, the problem does extend to BST listings, too. My box of fabric is in Everything Else for sale and goes to an album as well, which, according to what you just said, should not happen at all. Why would you think an actual BST listing would go to some album, again, an album created only when I put pictures in that ad, not when I actually created an album, per se?


ETA: that fabric ad also says no photos, when I very definitely do have photos in it and one desginated as the primary one. Hmm. Weird, weird stuff.

Cyn, I went into your profile and selected the BST listing under "Your Classifieds" and it seems to be working just fine. Please take a look at your signature and let me know if the FABRIC listing isn't how you wanted it.

See the screenshot below. Make sure you scroll all the way down past your albums and select the actual classified item:

That one seems to be working finally, thanks, Rob. No idea why it wouldn't work before. I selected and re-selected. It's those blasted gremlins again, I guess, eh?
