Dani and Lola think that I am 'The Great Protector'. Dani is our golden and Lola is our daughter's aged lab. A series of thunder storms has been rolling through all afternoon. They are stuck to me like glue, "Protect us Daddy, protect us."

It's so good to be needed.

Years ago. we had a little beagle-ish looking mixed breed that was totally devoted to my husband. I think I came in a distant third with her, or maybe fourth, and there were only 2 people in the house.

She hated T-storms too. She normally was very good about staying in the back yard, but when the lightning flashed and thunder rolled, she'd jump the gate to go sit on the front porch - I guess she felt closer to him there (our landlord had stipulated "no animals in the house.") Poor little Top was the dimmest of dim bulbs - we swore she only had 2 functioning brain cells. You just had to look deep into those big brown eyes to know, there was nobody home.


As gratifying as it is, I'd think having two retrievers glued to you would make it hard to walk!

You know how many emails I got when I came home from Phoenix today? 33. You know how many were from BYC? 32. The last one was from a blog I like.

And here I was all wound up about a new Sparkly who was supposed to email today. (He finally did a few minutes ago, dang him.)

Sheesh, you elders sure do write a lot.

Well, I've known him for a few months, and he already really likes chickens. He's not especially sparkly all the time... but he just never checks his email, and seeing as he's carpooling with us to a praise and worship night, he needed to. Men!

Sour, this guy is supposed to ride in the car (van?) with her. If you get hold of him, he's gonna be afraid to come within fifty feet - and that won't work; they aren't taking a train.


But Tani, this sounds suspicious. You clearly set more score by this email than you should have - are you wearing your bucket? You didn't say "let us know by 9 a.m," right? A day has 24 hours, so as long as he makes contact by 11:59 on the same date, he's good. But if he knew you were holding your breath waiting for his reply . . . .
