And this is ridiculous! 12 o'clock on May 26, and it is 64 degrees outside! All those tourists that came here to the beach for the long weekend are not happy! (I think they are sulking in their rooms working the wifi signals, 'cause the internet connection is as slow as molasses around here!)

64 degrees? That's almost a heat wave. It was in the low 40's along the Jersey shore this AM. Bet those folks are really frosted.

Last night's low was 54, the night before that it was in the upper 40's. Personally, I'm enjoying it (not running the AC isn't hurting my feelings any!) but it feels really weird. 64 should be a nighttime low at this time of year (in fact, it's the forecast low for Monday night), not a possible daytime high.

Of course, it's an ill wind that blows nobody good. While those tourists aren't out there freezing their buns off on the beach, they may be spending cold hard cash elsewhere. We definitely have a love/hate relationship with them around here. I have seen bumper stickers that read, "Welcome to Wrightsville Beach. Now Go Home."


I suddenly had a thought. Alaskan, how are things in your neck of the woods? I'm wondering if I somehow sent all the warms up your way.

We had our first two days of warmth Friday and Saturday.... It looks a bit cloudy today, but Monday will be our THIRD scorcher!! Predicted high of 57
