*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

I was beginning to wonder if you were hoping that you could keep bears away by smelling worse than they do.

The voles go marching one by one ............

But keep in mind Alaskan, the little furry creatures help to insulate the abode! Two by two may be more better!

uh...how?

It isn't that cold yet, but maybe Alaskan's brain has stopped functioning anyway.

Why would cute little fuzzy rodents eating all of Alaskan's food; eating, chewing, and packing down all of Alaskan's insulation; coating all of Alaskan's baseboards with pee; help keep Alaskan warm?

Umm, exercise and heat generated as you try to stomp them to death?

I think I'll stay here in my burrow for a while.

The tractor has been out of commission for about three weeks. The last time I tried to use it, it wouldn't start, and I told Critter I thought the battery was toast. He has tinkered with it several times since then, speculating on and finally ruling out problems with safety switches, the keyswitch, etc. He finally narrowed it down to either the starter or . . . the battery. He pulled them both out and took them to the auto parts store, where the battery tested as "needing a charge" when it was just on the charger a week ago. Then they hooked the starter up to a machine, flipped a switch, and the starter whirred to life for the first time in three weeks. Critter looked at me and growled. I went out and sat in the truck while he bought a new battery.

We put the starter and the new battery in the tractor, and hey, whattaya know, it works!

Nice and quiet, here in the burrow. No tractors or other loud noises down here.

Tired is what I am. 9 of the past 16 days we have been conducting field trials at my home club. Two were for neighboring clubs, and the third was ours. Thrashing through the brush to flush out

is tiring. On the positive side my dogs did well once again. Rat won for the second week in a row once again defeating a dog owned by his previous owner.

I delight in taking these 'not quite good enough' dogs and training them into winners. Speakeasy got 2nd in the 13" male class and Baby Jayne got 2nd in the 13" b*tch class. They did well. Now I need a shower and a little rest.

Call me 'tired Seoras'
