*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

Trust me, this depends to a large degree upon the nature of the visible relatives.

being relatively more rational, does not rational make....

For example, Alaskan, is relatively sane compared to the people who live out in the bush for months on end.

Just think, months long of being in that short scrubby kind of stinky brown stuff.....it just starts to get to you.

This is the Kingdom. Who is to say what passes for rationality here?

Definitely doubting my own rationality at the moment. Yesterday, I went to put a halter on my mini mule, Betsy. I don't know what got into her, but just after I got the halter buckled and before I could take hold of the lead rope, she took off. The lead is rather long, and the end of it somehow caught on a tree stump that was sort of behind me. When Betsy hit the end of it, the line tightened and swept my feet out from under me as smoothly as a martial arts move. I wound up doing a face plant out there in the pasture (yeah, I saw some of that sort of stinky brown stuff pretty up close and personal). I heard my neck crack when my chin hit the dirt, but I didn't see stars, or anything like that. I have a nice little bruise on my chin, and my jaws are a little sore yet, but the headache from yesterday has disappeared. I've also discovered a bruise on my hip that I hadn't noticed at the time (funny how head trauma seems to take precedence). Kinda nice to know that I can still take a spill like that and not break anything, I guess. Strikes me as terribly ironic that I deal with 1000 lb animals all the time, and yet this little 200 lb mule takes me down!

Later in the day, our Vet came around to give the minis their fall shots and draw some blood for the Coggins test. Two of the three are allergic to Vets, so I wound up in a wrestling match with them that has left me with some rather sore muscles. Being very quiet and thoughtful today . . . .

I hope that Betsy has a sore neck and headache worse than yours.

Actually, she could be a lot worse off than I am. Some equines have bad reactions to the shots, and she's one of them. I didn't know about that, and the first time I had her shots done, she developed a swelling on her neck that continued to expand for days until it went all the way down her front leg. It took a week of horsey NSAIDS to get that one under control (she's a pill to give meds to, too). Now, I give her and Blondie a dose of Banamine before they get their shots, and all she winds up with is a lump the size of a pecan that goes away in a day or two.

*Looks around wildly* What voice would that be? Is one of my relatives doing the invisibility thing here again?!!
Nope but I have. *JD suddenly appears* Hello folks, how has everybody been? I've been busy running my kingdom. Sigh, it isn't as fun as this one though. Uh oh, something just came up. . . .I gotta pop out of here again, but I'll be back soon. . . . . .*JD vanishes*
